VACCINATION

Vaccinations are important for preventing serious disease in your pet and for reducing its spread in the animal community. At The Avenue Veterinary Clinic we stock a full range of vaccines for cats, dogs and rabbits. We are happy to discuss with you the different vaccines available and help build a specific vaccination program for your pet (depending on your individual circumstances).

It is our recommendation that your pets come to see us for a thorough health check every year. We can keep an eye on your pet’s weight, check the ears, eyes, teeth, joints, skin, abdomen and heart for any signs of disease. As part of a thorough assessment of your pet’s health needs we recommend regular vaccination. Vaccination is essential to protect your pet from unnecessary suffering due to potentially fatal diseases. Also, all boarding and grooming establishments insist on up-to-date vaccinations.

For rabbits older than 10 weeks, an initial course of 2 boosters 2-4 weeks apart is required.

After this initial course, an annual booster is required for the lifespan of the individual rabbit.

Please note that breeding adult rabbits are advised to have boosters every 6 months as per AVA recommendations.
